32-Year-Old Driver Under Investigation After Car Falls Into Hole Dug Up For Cable Repairs
The woman is being investigated under Rule 10 LN 166/59 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for failing to control a vehicle properly.
A car fell into a large hole on the road in Taman Setiawangsa, Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday morning, 28 September
The incident occurred at 7.30am on Jalan AU3 Setiawangsa, in the direction heading to Kuala Lumpur.
According to a statement by Wangsa Maju police chief Ashari Abu Samah, the Toyota Vios was driven by a 32-year-old woman who had hit the barricades that were used to mark the area where underground cable repairs were taking place.

However, Ashari said the driver and a passenger, her four-year-old son, have escaped unharmed
The car has also since been lifted out from the hole and towed away for repair.
Meanwhile, photos and videos of the incident have gone viral on social media, with social media users calling on the contractors of the repair site to place more warning signs or hazard lights ahead of the hole to prevent further accidents.
The photos show that the car had landed sideways into the hole on the side of the two-lane road, while a video shows passersby helping the mother and child climb out of their car.

The police said the case is being investigated under Rule 10 LN 166/59 under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987
In the statement, Ashari said the rule is for falling asleep while driving or failing to control a vehicle properly.
