Anwar: Cabinet Ministers Agree To 20% Pay Cut To Their Monthly Salaries
He said the pay cuts will continue until the country's economy recovers.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the newly-appointed Cabinet has agreed to take a 20% pay cut from their monthly salaries
Anwar made the announcement at a press conference today, 5 December, after he had a special meeting with the ministers in his Cabinet this morning.
He added that the pay cuts will continue until the economy has fully recovered, after which the reductions will be reviewed.
The move is to show the government's concern for Malaysians, he said, and thanked the ministers for agreeing to it.

The meeting at 10am this morning marked the first Cabinet meeting for the federal ministers of the unity government under the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairperson
The Cabinet consists of 28 portfolios, including two deputy prime ministers, namely Barisan Nasional (BN) chairperson Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chief Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
Anwar, who also holds the Finance Minister portfolio, has repeated that measures to reduce the burden on the public and ways to stimulate the economy are the Cabinet's top priorities.
During the press conference after the meeting, he said his Cabinet would focus on good governance and eradicating corruption and abuse of power.
