Anwar: No Salary For Me If I Am Elected The Next Prime Minister Of Malaysia
The Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman said he would be "ashamed" to take a salary while the public endured the rising prices of goods.
Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim declared at a campaign event in Kalabakan, Sabah, that he will forgo his salary if he is chosen as the next prime minister of Malaysia
According to a report by The Vibes, the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president claimed that he would do so in solidarity with Malaysians who are struggling with the rising prices of goods.
Adding to that, Anwar stated that people are sick of seeing prime ministers live lavish lifestyles while ordinary folk are grappling with their finances.
"I will be ashamed to take a prime minister's salary while the people suffer with rising prices of goods," he said to the crowd in Kalabakan, during his campaign talk on Saturday, 12 November.
Anwar also vowed to change politics in the nation if PH is voted to form a government, saying that there will no longer be a 'bloated administration'
Referencing precious governments for having plenty of ministers and deputy ministers, Anwar noted, "There were 70 ministers under BN (Barisan Nasional). What have they done? The people are suffering with the rising of goods prices but 70 ministers cannot do anything to help the situation."

Meanwhile, the former finance minister stated that the ability to develop Sabah has been hindered by corruption
"Why is it so hard? Malaysian has been independent for almost 60 years. [Some parts of Sabah] have terrible roads, no electricity and water supply, and hospitals are far. If no one steals money, the money [for development] is enough," he said during his speech.
Anwar added that while there are people living in poverty in the peninsula, it cannot be denied that Sabah has been neglected, and that he will bring development to the state should he be appointed prime minister.

At the present day, PH is fielding Noraini Abdul Ghapur, the eldest child of the former Kalabakan MP, Datuk Seri Abdul Ghapur Salleh, for the seat in Kalabakan.
For the 15th general election (GE15), Noraini will see herself facing off with four other candidates for the seat — incumbent Ma'mun Sulaiman (Warisan), Andi Muhammad Suryady Bandy (UMNO), Nur Aini Abdul Rahman (Pejuang), and Muhammad Dhiauddi N Hassan (Independent).
