Yesterday, 3 March, a female Grab driver was reportedly sexually assaulted by a male passenger in Puchong

New Straits Times reported that she was held at knifepoint when the incident occurred at around 5.36am yesterday.

The assault allegedly happened near the KOI Prima condominium in Taman Mas, Puchong.

The woman had picked up the passenger at a petrol station on the Shah Alam Expressway (KESAS)

According to Sinar Harian, the man was picked up from the Awan Besar rest and recreational area.

From the back passenger seat, the man then took out a knife and threatened the driver as the car approached a dimly lit area near the condominium.

Kuala Langat district police chief Supt Azizan Tukiman revealed that the victim was told to keep quiet before the knife was pointed at her neck.

"The suspect then jumped to the front passenger seat before kissing her face and fondling her breasts," he was reported as saying by New Straits Times.

The victim managed to jump out of her moving Proton Saga before the man unzipped his pants

The driver had put up a struggle while the man was unzipping his pants, and she cried for help after throwing herself out of the car. The suspect then fled the scene as a taxi passed by.

"The victim lodged a report at the Putra Perdana police station at 7.15am today," Azizan said.

The police has since launched a manhunt for the suspect, who is believed to be in his 20s. The case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal code for assault with intent to outrage the modesty of a woman.

Grab Malaysia has since issued a statement regarding the incident

"We have been assisting the authorities from the very beginning and will continue to do so, to ensure the victim's rights are protected and action is taken against the perpetrator," Grab Malaysia said in a statement issued earlier today, 4 March.

"We request that everyone refrain from sharing her personal data in public spaces like social media or sharing speculation and rumours regarding this matter. We would like to respect the privacy and safety of our driver-partner and the ongoing investigation," the company added.
