[VIDEO] This 90-Year-Old Grandpa Just Became The Oldest M'sian To Conquer Mount Kinabalu

A 90-year-old grandfather has broken the record to become the oldest Malaysian to conquer Mount Kinabalu on Monday, 5 September

The achievement was celebrated by a mountain guide on TikTok @iceeminn123, who congratulated the senior citizen for climbing Malaysia's highest peak of 4,095m at his age.

In the clip that has gone viral, the hikers around him can be heard teasing the senior that he can climb the mountain faster than them.

Meanwhile, the elderly man can be seen slowly making his way up the iconic landscape of Mount Kinabalu with his hand held, and even manages a smile for the camera.

The clip has since captured the awe of netizens, who have poured in to congratulate the man and salute him for the amazing feat

On a post by Facebook page Sabah Info, local netizens have even chimed in to offer more information about the elderly man and some said they often see him training around Kota Kinabalu.

"Congratulations, uncle! I always see him while he is training," said another, who shared a photo of the uncle in hiking gear.

It is revealed that the elderly man is a 90-year-old grandfather from Papar, Sabah

His name is Buatin Blandong and he hiked Mount Kinabalu with his family, including his granddaughter, on Monday. It was not his first time up the mountain. 

According to The Straits Times, he had also scaled the mountain at the age of 82 in 2014.

According to his granddaughter's social media posts, he has always maintained a healthy lifestyle and often goes on weekly hikes and jogs.
