A maintenance worker died after losing consciousness on a telecommunications tower in Gemas, Negeri Sembilan yesterday, 14 April

Tampin district police chief Supt Amiruddien Sariman said the Gemas police station received a call from a member of the public about the incident, reported Harian Metro.

"A male telecommunications tower maintenance worker was reported to have lost consciousness while atop the tower. Based on the information received, the police and fire department responded to the scene and found the man at a height of 60m," he said.

Amiruddien added that firemen attempted to revive the victim with CPR, and he was brought down four hours later, at approximately 9.20pm.

"The victim was pronounced dead by medical officers from the Jelai Health Clinic," he said.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the 31-year-old man was carrying out maintenance work on the tower with a colleague

The victim is believed to have climbed the tower alone, while his colleague remained on the ground.

"The man told his colleague he felt fatigued, with numbness in his hands, and unable to climb down from the tower," said Amiruddien.

The victim's body has been sent to the forensic department at Tampin Hospital for a post-mortem, and the case is being investigated as a sudden death.
