It was reported that the woman has a history of mental illness

According to New Straits Times, her 32-year-old brother found her covered in blood when he visited the apartment, where their mother and younger brother also reside.

According to northeast police chief Assistant Commissioner Che Zaimani Che Awang, the elder brother immediately contacted police and an ambulance.

However, as he was waiting for them to arrive, the woman ran out of the home, doused herself in petrol, and set herself ablaze.
