Three 13-year-old girls were raped by four teen suspects after they were offered to try a "new vape flavour" in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah last Wednesday, 26 April

Kota Kinabalu police chief ACP Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said his department received a police report from one of the victims on 27 April after she said she was raped at a lodging house in Kampung Air, reported Berita Harian.

After some investigation, it is understood that the suspects also gang raped two other girls.

"In that incident, four male and one female suspects approached the three victims at a shopping centre in the city (Kota Kinabalu) and subsequently persuaded them to hang out at their lodging house in Kampung Air," he was quoted as saying.

"While at the lodging house, they were lured into smoking a new vape flavour," he added.

The district police chief said all the victims tried the "new vape flavour" while at the lodging house and began to lose consciousness

"When the victims woke up in the middle of the night, they found themselves naked and suspected of being raped," Mohd Zaidi said, as reported by Utusan Malaysia.

"All five suspects had disappeared after they woke up. Therefore, one of the victims filed a police report," he said.

Acting on the police report, the authorities managed to track down and arrest the five suspects, aged between 13 and 17, in the vicinity of the Kota Kinabalu city centre and the Telipok Ria area in Tuaran.

The female accomplice is 17 years old.

They will be remanded until 5 May. The case is currently being investigated under Section 375(b) and Section 372(1)(a) of the Penal Code for rape and procuring or trading in prostitution, respectively.
