Tiger Sugar Is Finally In Malaysia! Here Are 3 Must-Try Drinks If You're A First-Timer

The famous Taiwanese bubble tea brand has become a cult favourite since it was launched in November 2017.

At long last, cult favourite and popular Taiwanese bubble tea brand Tiger Sugar has arrived in Malaysia!

Initially slated for a November opening, Tiger Sugar opened its first Malaysian outpost at Sunway Pyramid on New Year's Day and was officially launched earlier today, 4 January.

Famous for its signature brown sugar drinks, Tiger Sugar is a relatively young company, having entered the market in November 2017 with its first outlet in Taichung, Taiwan

It quickly amassed a cult-like following among bubble tea enthusiasts, with people reportedly queueing up for at least an hour just to get their hands on its best-selling brown sugar boba fresh milk with cream mousse drink.

The brand has since expanded to other countries in Asia, including Hong Kong, Singapore, the Philippines, and of course, Malaysia.

As for why the company is called 'Tiger Sugar', it has a lot to do with the drinks' unique presentation - the cups are coated with brown sugar, which is supposed to resemble the stripes of a tiger when milk is poured in!

Tiger Sugar prides itself on using only high quality and imported ingredients to craft their beverages. The menu is kept simple to highlight its signature Tiger Brown Sugar syrup, which is made up of four types of Taiwanese brown sugar syrup

Only fresh milk is used for drinks, in addition to crystal clear ice made from filtered water, not unlike the ones used for premium whisky. Most importantly, the boba pearls - which are cooked in brown sugar - are made in small batches to maintain freshness in each cup.

If you're new to the Taiwanese brand, we've got you covered. Here are three of Tiger Sugar's must-try drinks if you're a first-timer:

1. The best-selling Brown Sugar Boba Milk with Cream mousse (RM12.90)

Considered the signature drink that propelled Tiger Sugar to fame, this best-selling drink is a wonderful combination of cold, fresh milk and warm brown sugar pearls topped with a thick mousse for a slightly cheesy taste.

Despite its heavy ingredients, we were pleasantly surprised to find that it's not as sweet nor cloying as we expected it to be. In fact, to paraphrase Thanos, it's perfectly balanced... as all things should be. :p

Note: The drink is also available without cream mousse, although the price remains the same. You can also opt for a boba + mini-sized pearls combo if you cannot decide on the sort of pearls you'd like in your drink.

2. Want a dash of fragrant tea in your drink? Consider going for the Black Tea Latte with Cream mousse (RM10.90).

The drink also comes in a green tea latte variant.

3. If you're not a fan of milky drinks, the Brown Sugar Green Tea with Boba or Pearls (RM9.90) is a good bet too!

Not a fan of boba or pearls either? Go for the Tea Series (RM8.90) instead for plain ol' refreshing black or green tea.
