When Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay's restaurant opens in Malaysia the fourth quarter of this year, food enthusiasts in the region will be able to indulge in a dining experience that they cannot get anywhere else in the world

According to New Straits Times, not only will Sunway Resort in Petaling Jaya have Ramsay's first restaurant in Malaysia, but it will also be the first Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill restaurant outside of London, UK.

The multi Michelin-starred British chef currently has 43 restaurants around the world, two of which are in Asia — namely Singapore and China.

While diners can expect his signature dishes such as beef Wellington and sticky toffee pudding at his first restaurant in the country, they can also expect Southeast Asian cuisine.

In an interview with The Star recently, Ramsay said he is excited to let diners try his rendang short ribs and crab and corn laksa.

Ramsay's take on our cuisine is a must-try as he was personally tutored by the godfather of Indonesian food, chef William Wongso, while he was filming Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted

During the second season of the National Geographic TV series, the British chef travelled to West Sumatra to learn the finesse behind rendang-making.

Elaborating on what diners can expect from his first restaurant in Malaysia, he said, "It will be a mix of British Grill Classics and everything I've learnt in South-East Asia. Some of the most incredible ingredients come from this region and bringing the Bar & Grill here gives me a unique opportunity to mix those cuisines."

Speaking to The Star, he talked about his experiential nature when it comes to food, saying he will always hit local streets to try out local cuisine and seek out local produce.

The restaurant will open its doors in the fourth quarter of this year at the lobby level of Sunway Resort

People who are familiar with Sunway Resort would know that the lobby level boasts a spectacular view of Sunway Lagoon.

The resort is currently undergoing a USD60 million (or about RM240 million) transformation. Once it is completed, it will house the restaurant, which will feature iconic contemporary interiors and floor-to-ceiling windows with a view of the water and amusement park.

The restaurant will also have cozy booths and private dining rooms for intimate events.

Glittering chandeliers will be hung above the seductive bar and other areas to create a sophisticated and inviting ambience.

The casual yet exclusive Bar & Grill restaurant can house 150 diners at a time.

As for the dress code for the all-day restaurant, it is believed that it will not practise a strict jacket or dress rule as Ramsay told The Star that "customers vote with their feet" and that they "always have to adapt".

For example, he said his restaurants in London no longer have a mandatory jacket rule for gentlemen.
