There have been many great reviews about this unassuming little restaurant over the years. But if you don't actually know what you're looking for, it can be pretty tricky to find its location, as it's in a secluded spot and the door is always closed.

Yet, Pu Yuan restaurant has been a much sought-after hidden gem for those looking for authentic, tasty Hokkien cuisine.

As you enter, there aren't many tables, so try to head there during off peak hours if you want to secure a seat.

Plastered along the walls are newspaper clippings of past articles written about the restaurant — all of which adds to the old school charm of the place

The food, though, is what everyone raves about. They offer fried sweet potato flour noodles, fried tang hoon (glass noodles), and ginger steamed fish head.

Customers also recommend ordering the Hokkien-style spring rolls, stuffed century egg, and their signature fried homemade bean curd that are said to be full of 'wok hei'.

Other interesting dishes include oatmeal popcorn chicken and honey pork.
