"Annual bonuses worth up to three months' salary."
A viral post on Threads has sparked a wave of Malaysians revealing the best work benefits they've ever received
It all started when an original poster asked, "Please, I really want to know what's the best benefit you've ever gotten from a company?"
The replies poured in, but one user stood out with a stacked list of benefits she's received while working across five multinational companies (MNCs) as a software engineer.
Here’s what she listed:
- 13-month salary
- Unlimited outpatient medical coverage
- Medical coverage for spouse and kids up to RM20,000 per illness
- Dental and optical benefits extended to dependents
- Fully sponsored company family day trips (2D1N stays at 4- or 5-star hotels)
- Anniversary bonuses at 5, 10, and 15 years of service
- 24 days of annual leave
- 16 weeks of maternity leave
- Annual bonuses worth up to three months of salary
- Annual dinners hosted at 5-star hotels
- Branded company gifts (bags, tumblers, laptop sleeves, power banks, etc.)
- Annual USD250 (RM1,000) gift card
That post alone had people shook, especially the part about the 13-month salary, a perk that's rare in Malaysia
Another user replied: "That 13-month salary should be standard everywhere."
To which the software engineer responded, "Yes. I received it at my previous two companies. My current one doesn't offer it, but they do have a minimum 1-month bonus."
