In a viral video tweeted by @shaz99202441 yesterday, 19 December, a guy explains that you can use your pants to help you stay afloat.

Treading the water can be tiring, especially over a long period of time. So he explains to remove your pants while you are in the water and tie both pant leg ends into a knot.

Once you've tied them, put your head through the hole and fill the open end of the pants with surrounding water

Just hold the end closed after you have filled it and it should keep your head above the water while you wait to be rescued.

You can also do this with a sarong or any other type of cloth using a similar tying method
