Starting 1 April, Malaysia Airlines, Firefly, and AirBorneo (formerly MASwings) will enforce new regulations on carrying power banks during flights

In a statement on 17 March, the airlines announced stricter guidelines to enhance passenger safety.

If you're flying with any of these carriers, here's what you need to know to avoid issues at the airport.

Under the new rules, passengers must carry their power banks with them at all times

Storing them in checked baggage or overhead compartments is strictly prohibited

Instead, they should be placed in a carry-on bag under the seat or in the seat pocket in front of you.

Additionally, charging power banks during the flight is not allowed

Any spare lithium-ion batteries or power banks must not be packed in checked luggage under any circumstances.

These measures aim to minimise risks and ensure a safer flying experience for everyone

Travellers are advised to adhere to these guidelines to avoid any inconvenience at the airport.

So far, Thai Airways, Batik Air, Singapore Airlines, and Scoot have also announced similar rules:
