A banner at the Federal Territory Mosque in Kuala Lumpur has gone viral for its innovative method of helping Muslims park their cars while they perform the congregational Tarawih prayers

The banner, posted by Twitter user @IniAlalalannn on 17 March, shows designated zones for visitors to park their cars based on how many rakaats (cycles of prescribed movements in prayer) they will be performing for Tarawih prayers.

There are three parking zones at the mosque — Zone A, Zone B and Zone C. Zone A is for those performing Tarawih with 20 rakaats, while those performing Tarawih prayers with eight rakaats can park in Zones B and C.

At the time of writing, the tweet has garnered over 7,000 retweets and over 12,000 likes.

Malaysians were impressed with the mosque's committee members for making parking more convenient, especially when prayers end early for some and later for others

Some mentioned that other mosques in Bangsar and Subang Jaya use a similar system.

Many hope that more mosques across the country will adopt this system in the near future.

Tarawih prayers are one of the blessed practises done exclusively during Ramadan

It is done after Isya' prayers (the last of the five daily prayers) and usually in congregation in mosques or musollas. Tarawih prayers can be done in eight rakaats or 20 rakaats, depending on the capability of the person.

Tarawih prayers are not mandatory but Muslims are highly encouraged to perform them. The eight or 20 rakaats can be done at intervals, with a special doa (prayer) read between each set.

After the prayers are done, Muslims remain at the mosque for supper called moreh.
