At around 3am on Sunday, 9 December, a homeless man named César walked into a hospital in Brazil to get treatment for a chronic health condition he'd been experiencing

In a Facebook post that has gone viral, a nurse by the name of Chris Mamprim shared a heartwarming scene that took place while she was on duty at the time.

While César was getting treated, the nurse spotted four stray dogs waiting patiently for him outside the hospital doors

It turned out that the furry creatures were actually his friends.

Mamprim's Facebook post has since garnered over 78,000 shares and 128,000 reactions.

Mamprim learnt that César sometimes doesn't eat just so that the dogs are well-fed instead. "They are all well taken care of and chubby," Mamprim told The Dodo.

"A simple person, without luxury, who depends on help to overcome the hunger, the cold, the pain, the evils of the world, has by his side the best companions, and the exchange is reciprocal," she wrote in her post.

The dogs had apparently waited an hour for their dear friend to be released

"Seeing them like that, waiting at the door, only shows how much they are cared for and loved," she added.

Mamprim and the other hospital workers were so touched by the sight that they allowed the dogs in to have a meal with César.

"Believe me, he [César] ate some and saved a bit to give the dogs later," Mamprim said, according to Dodo.
